The Institute for the Study of War and Strategy serves as the intellectual hub for research, public engagement, and deep conversations on both historic and contemporary security and defense issues. There are a number of ways in which scholars, students and practitioners can become involved in the work of the Institute:
- Through attendance at workshops, seminars and conferences. We bring academics, policymakers, practitioners, and military professionals to St. Andrews to engage in discussion of strategy, defense, and security. The majority of our events are open to the public.
- By applying to become a visiting fellow. Funded opportunities are available through the St. Andrews Global Fellowship Scheme.
- By applying for admission to the M.Litt in Strategic Studies.
- By applying for admission to a cognate St. Andrews PhD programme:
- Practitioners and stakeholders can ask the ISWS to host a study day or a problem-oriented retreat involving members of our faculty. We would be delighted to further discuss options.
